Sales Engineer

Responsibilities:
  • Identify new customers for Webtide's products and services globally.
  • Develop and execute effective campaigns to reach top-level executives and line-of-business (LOB) managers about the benefits of Webtide's products and services.
  • Be a key member of Webtide's sales and marketing team responsible for demand generation and lead qualification, and overall account penetration strategy.
  • Responsible for building the sales pipeline and prospecting new accounts.
  • Ability to demonstrate time management, strong sales skills and knowledge of Webtide and its competitors.
Requirements:
  • 2-5 years support and training sales experience. Strong CRM experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand customer's industry and core business processes and identify opportunities for presenting Webtide's products and services as solutions.
  • Effective sales, marketing and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a global team environment.
  • Based in Los Angeles, CA USA.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit.
  • MBA a plus.

Software Deployment Engineer

Responsibilities:
  • Perform technical analysis of customers' requirements; assist in design, development and testing of Webtide solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise in the delivery and deployment of Webtide solutions.
  • Provide post-implementation technical support (i.e. testing, configuring, tuning, debugging, etc.) to our customers and partners.
  • Interact with and provide customer insight to Webtide's development organization.
Requirements:
  • Must be a Java developer with excellent hands-on technical skills and/or work experience of Jetty 6.
  • Prior consulting/customer service experience.
  • Track record of establishing and meeting project schedules and goals.
  • Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • May be based anywhere in North America and be able to effectively telework. Frequent travel to Los Angeles, CA and to client site is required.

Software Engineers
(Pasig City, Cebu City)

Responsibilities:
  • To engage in high-level software development tasks in Java/J2EE and other open-source technologies.
  • To develop and implement suitable software configuration processes that will solve problems concerning software technology issues.
  • To analyze requirements of projects and collaborate with other software engineers during the design phase of the products and related services.
  • To build software for systems of any size and complexity.
  • To ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documentation.
  • To lead a small team or work as part of a larger team.
  • To achieve customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or any related courses or fields.
  • At least 2 years work experience in the same capacity.
  • With Strong Java/J2EE/Server side programming experience and expertise. J2EE experience should include Servlets/JSP/EJB/JMX.
  • Experience in Apache Geronimo or related Java-based application servers is an advantage.
  • With strong analysis and information design skills using cutting edge technology.
  • Self starter; flexible in a fast paced environment; pays attention to details; and result-oriented.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and customer relationship skills.
  • Willing to work overtime, and on Saturdays.

UI Engineers
(Pasig City, Cebu City)

Responsibilities:
  • To engage in high level software development tasks in Java/J2EE and other open source technologies.

  • To aid in building software for systems of any size and complexity.
  • To ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documentation.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or any related courses or fields.
  • At least 2 years work experience in developing web interface applications using a number of key components, such as JSP/Servlets, JSTL, JSP Expression Language, Spring MVC, Javascript, CSS, and HTML.
  • Knowledge in AJAX is an advantage.
  • Graphic design skills also an advantage.
  • Strong analysis and information design skills using cutting edge technology.
  • Self starter; flexible in a fast paced environment; pays attention to details; and result-oriented.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and customer relationship skills.
  • Can work with minimum supervision, independent, and self-motivated.

Jetty Runner
If you're looking for a fast and easy way to run your webapp, without needing to install and administer a Jetty distro, then look no further, the Jetty Runner is here! The idea of the Jetty Runner is extremely simple - run a webapp from the command line using a single jar and as much default configuration as possible:
  java -jar jetty-runner.jar my.war
Voila! Jetty will start on port 8080 and deploy the my.war webapp.

JSR-315 Needs YOU!
The expert group for JSR 315 (servlet-3.0) has come to a bit of an impasse regarding some new features for auto discovery of servlets and filters.   Some members of the EG have some security/flexibility concerns regarding these features, but others do not think the concerns  significant enough to warrant additional complexity in configuration options.
In order to resolve this impasse, the EG has decided to solicit more community feedback. So this is my biased blog soliciting that feedback.

Jetty 7.0.0pre0 released!
The trunk of jetty has undergone some substantial changes over the last couple of weeks.  In addition to jetty 7 now requiring a minimum version of jdk 1.5 and the default inclusion of the early servlet 3.0 spec, there have been a number of structural changes a bit more near and dear to my heart.  It leverages a bit more maven2!
